A STRONG TOWER

I’ve been hearing and reading and even quoting this verse for years, and I love it as it brings peace of mind knowing God is our strong tower. I’ve never really thought about “what is a strong tower” until today. The Lord led me into a study of a strong tower.

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. (KJV)

What exactly is a strong tower?

The real question is, “What’s a strong tower”? A tower that possess the quality of strength?

What does that mean?

A tower that is built with a strong door?

Strong straps?

a tower, that sits so high up on a hill and nothing can go over it, that has thick protective walls and strong enforced door and nothing can penetrate it.

A tower grounded with a foundation so deep that nothing can undermine it. A tower that provides safety for its inhabitants. The ones that run to it… knowing without doubt that they are safe.

My question is…. with all the today’s chaos and uncertainty then who doesn’t need a strong tower to run to and feel safe?

So… the Lord pointed out today that it’s simply “His name” that is the strong tower….and not necessarily Jesus Himself.

Which shows the power of His name.

The word “name” in Hebrew is “shem” which means reputation.

So the Lord lived His life in such a phenomenal and powerful way that His name alone is His reparation and full of power that even the name being called on gives shelter and makes demons flee.

That verse alone signifies that the name of the Lord means “I was, I am, and I will be”

Which makes the verse in HEBREWS 13:10 true:

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (KJV)

The strong tower (Jesus) will NEVER be destroyed, and the strong tower (Jesus) will always be there with us as a beacon in the wilderness to give us perfect direction.

I’m a country girl… so when I go to a big city the first thing I see is big buildings…. towers. That’s how Jesus needs to be in our life.

When we walk through the wilderness, a valley or if we are on a mountain top… our first vision should be of Jesus… our strong tower.

Keeping our eye focused on that tower will always lead us in the right direction and towards the cross. It will automatically lead you Home. Absolutely NOTHING can destroy that tower!

I copied this next section from something I was studying but now can’t find where it was at to give credit.

But…. it’s too interesting not to share and too in depth for me to take credit for. LOL

“The word strong is oz which comes from a root word ozaz. Ozaz means strength, hardened. It also means a place of refuge and fortified cities.  This is where the word Gaza comes from meaning an area of strength or fortification. The name alone tells you why the Gaza Strip is so important in the Middle East.  So this Tower is a Tower that is fortified and a refuge.  The name of God is a refuge.”

All of God’s Word and all of history are related and tie into God’s plan.

Our refuge in God is not necessarily His provision or the strength in how He protects us against our enemies or how He disciplines us…. all though those things are to be taken serious and to be treasured…. but more importantly our refuge is in how He cares for us through loving kindness and through His tender mercies. He makes them new every single day!

What a blessing is that?!

Lamentations 3:22-23 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (KJV)

The peace and love of God is really all we ever need. It’s what He freely and willingly gives to His children.

The joy of the Lord is our strength!

NEHEMIAH 8:10

With God we get the best of everything! We get the best with the lessons and teachings of our trials and joy and we have peace through it all….because of our strong tower!

We NEVER have to wonder if we are safe! His Word tells us that we are eternally safe with Him!

Praise Jesus for this today 🙌🏼

And praise Him for new mercy each and every morning.

Search Him out daily so you can be safe.
