Are you a person that always has excuses or are you a person that always turns to the Lord in prayer?
We need to start seeing circumstances with spiritual eyes.
I will first start with examining my own heart and asking God…what kind of person am I?
🙏🏼 Lord search the depths of my heart and reveal to me the changes I need to make to better glorify You with my life.
Are you a people pleaser? Do you inadvertently fall into a devils snare because you’re a people pleaser?
The desire to be liked isn’t sinful. We should all have a desire to want to get along with others and to be liked. The confusion comes in when we put more emphasis on being “liked” over being a servant.
Being “liked” will come natural by other believers but unfortunately not from the unbelievers. We need to be extremely focused on being a God pleaser instead of a people pleaser.
JOHN 15:18-27
People pleasing is exhausting and can sometimes lead you away from the Lord.
What kind of person are you? Do you want to be liked by others so badly that you do so at the cost of someone else?
JAMES 4:11
Do you back bite a person to another mutual friend to get them to dislike the one you’re talking about so that they’ll “like” you better?
PROVERBS 25:23
What kind of person are you?
Do you fear rejection?
I crave stability and the need to be needed. This can be positive but it is so easy to let it become negative.
It gets so confusing in the mind sometimes. It can quickly become a snare if we aren’t careful. We need to check our hearts and ask God to search us…
what are our motives? Are our motives for others or are our motives purely for the Lord’s sake?
Our motives should always be driven by love. First the love we have for the Lord which then gives us a love for others as we see them through the eyes of Jesus.
What kind of person are you?
Do you see every person you meet as a soul? One that will either die and go to heaven or to hell?
Do you demonstrate compassion?
When someone else speaks harshly to you, against you or about you…. how do you react?
PROVERBS 15:1
In the flesh we want to lash out…. maybe even have a desire to punch them in the mouth. Yeah….I know…..it sounds godly doesn’t it…. but it’s what the flesh wants to do. Surely we’ve all been there. I mean….not me…. LOL… but y’all. 🤦🏻♀️
Sometimes we need to take a look at ourselves and examine what the other person said about us and see if there’s an ounce of it that’s true.
PSALM 139:23
If so and it’s an ungodly characteristic then we need to pray and ask the Lord to forgive us and ask His help In the area that needs improved. Self examination is hard and usually not pleasant but it’s necessary.
PSALM 139:24
What kind of person are you?
Are you one that sews discord amongst a group of people in order that others might like you better than someone else?
PROVERBS 6:19
Are you the kind of person that is carrying so much hate towards another person that all you want is to see them destroyed?
Does your hatred towards them come from a deep seeded hurt/wound you carry in your heart?
The answer is to let it go in Jesus name.
If you can’t forgive that person then how do you expect the Heavenly Father to forgive you?
MATTHEW 6:15
Without forgiveness then we can’t enter into heaven.
So what kind of person do you want to be?
One that gives it all over to God and allow Him to heal all areas?
Do you want to be the kind of person that’s more concerned with the things of God over the things of this world?
Do you want to be the kind of person that’s more interested in the souls of each human greater than being interested in the approval of man?
We can never serve both God and man. You have to make a choice which one you will serve and back it up with your life and not just your lips.
Don’t be like Belshazzar who was called by the Holy Spirit and taught the things of God his entire life but reject the acceptance of a real relationship with Christ because the world was too big of a temptation.
When you see the person bound by drugs, alcohol, pornography…. (you name the addiction)etc…and they’re smiling through their demons… what kind of person are you?
Do your emotions stop at disgust for their choices or does your heart truly break and go out to them and do you or will you plead to the Lord in their behalf that He would supernaturally go to them by the power of the Holy Spirit and free them from their addiction so that they too can go to heaven?
(I have a personal story of a beggar standing at an intersection. My initial reaction was disgust at another person begging for money. The Lord quickly pricked me and let me see this person as a soul…just like me…and I too was once lost in sin. I turned my disgust into prayer. Idk personally what he dealt with but I could discern he was bound. I prayer specific things for him. One that he would be so sickened at his choice to stand and beg when he was capable of work that he would drop his sign and walk off. He literally did just that. He dropped one corner and then the whole sign. He picked it up and began walking backwards. He went back about 5 feet then turned around and walked completely off the area he was in and I’ve never seen him back again. I followed up with asking the Lord to meet every need the man had and show him how real He is. I might not know the outcome of that part of my prayer until I get to heaven. I do know that the Holy Spirit met with both of us…and the man had a choice to accept or reject.)
What kind of person are you?
Ask yourself what kind of person you are each time a situation comes up and when the enemy comes at you and tempts you to tear another person or their character down….
what kind of person am I?
Am I a person that loves the world more than Jesus or am I a person that’s willing to humble my heart and love each person like Jesus does. Every single person on earth has a final eternal destiny in one of two places.
Be the kind of person that’s truly burdened for the souls of people.
Be the kind of person that will stand in the gap and hold them up in prayer.
Be the kind of person that has gentle words for others.
Be the kind of person so full of Grace that it takes over your heart and your lips.
Be the kind of person that sees every single human as a soul destined for heaven or hell and make a petition of prayer in their behalf. Remember that you might be the only Jesus that someone sees….so represent Christ well.
