grief can be so overwhelming and make a person feel like they’re about to completely smother! Things in their life have changed and it only took a second for it to happen.
I’ve been there myself and I know the heaviness on the chest and heart when I was told my child wouldn’t make it. I speak from my heart today as I’m so broken for so many others I know that are dealing with various forms of grief. It’s a hard battle but I’m thankful grief doesn’t have to win!
I know a whole lot of people right now that are struggling with grief. By nature I am a “fixer” so it’s been hard for me during this time of watching people I know hurt and not having any words to help them through. Not only am I a “fixer” but my first thoughts are always of scripture and “what can I say spiritually that will help them” and honestly…. sometimes there’s just nothing that can be said. It doesn’t mean I don’t believe all the promises that are in God’s Word because I whole heartedly do but it means that sometimes even in God’s Word He tells us to be still and I feel like these times are one of those moments.
Even when I don’t know what to say…. I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit does and that the Holy Spirit can go before me and speak great things of comfort to a person when I simply don’t have the words but I have the prayers.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (KJV)
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (KJV)
I just want to remind you that God hasn’t forgotten you. He is the good good Father that not only knows you by name but He calls you by it.
Isaiah 43:1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
Isaiah 43:2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. (KJV)
He is the Father that has the very hair on your head numbered.
Matthew 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (KJV)
He is the father that wants you to be in good health and prosper.
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (KJV)
Right now for that person who’s pain is so deep that they feel like they can’t breathe….just know that God has not forgotten you.
Today you grieve and take as long as God gives you, but while you’re waiting… let the Holy Spirit be your comforter.
Don’t allow your grief to be before the Lord as then it will be that your grief becomes an idol and you will be canceling out the blessings that God has in store for you.
The enemy has came against you because of your faithfulness and you are a target that he absolutely wants to destroy and through the deep grief you are going through there has been allowed to be a wall put up and it stands between you and God so you aren’t able to feel Him or hear Him at this time, but just know that there is war being waged in your behalf and that wall will be torn down and you will continue to grieve but it will be in a healthier way that will allow God to hold you right in His arms and He will rock you to soothe you just as we do our children when they need comforted.
He is a our strong tower that we can run to for safety.
Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. (KJV)
Remember earlier when I referenced the scripture that said “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”?
I will lean on that verse a lot during this time and I will hold to what it says and trust that the Holy Spirit will penetrate the wall that’s been put up by the person who’s grieving and that God will allow those people to remember who exactly He is and that He doesn’t change. Not even during your times of grief.
His Grace will cover you so that you can get through the next steps.
He will cover you with Grace so that you can breathe again.
He will cover you with Grace so that you can see that although things have drastically changed in your life…. He is still making ways for you and blessings are ahead!
For those that have their loved ones in heaven…He will let you remember that they are perfected and they are doing so well and they don’t want to return here.
He will let you think about all the things your loved one must be doing in heaven and how they get to worship in person at the very feet of Jesus and they are receiving their crowns of rewards.
The Holy Spirit will use those things to help you put one foot in front of the other.
God’s Grace will become so real to you and the Holy Spirit will let you see, know, and feel that it truly is His Grace that’s sufficient for us and that it’s through our weakness and our humbled hearts that His strength is perfected and it will be what releases you to allow the testimony God began in you to move forward and that the power of Christ still rests on you and it will do great things and this trial and this grief will not be in vain!!
2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (KJV)
The Lord will continue the ministry He started in you and others will watch you and see how you graciously overcame grief still praising the Lord with lifted hands and a heart of worship and they will not be able to deny the power of God in you! People will come to Christ through your journey!
When you are a strong Christ warrior then you are a target of the enemy. He (the devil) hates you because you remind him of his enemy (Christ).
John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. (KJV)
God will show you that you truly can do all things through Christ and this will be no different.
You are victorious in Jesus!
You will rise up with greater faith than you ever imagined possible!
You will walk and breathe and sing the continuous praises of our Heavenly Father who is worthy of it all!
Today you grieve and take as long as God gives you, but while you’re waiting… let the Holy Spirit be your comforter.
Remembering always that there might be sorrow through the night but joy comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. (KJV)
Until then…. you have an Aaron that’s holding your arms up in this battle and you are not alone!!! War is waged and you are victorious through Christ…. by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of His testimony!
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (KJV)
Today… just breathe…. just breathe….and rest at Jesus feet.
I will trust and pray for every broken and wounded heart that’s overtaken by grief that during this time you sit and rest at Jesus feet that every breathe you take in will be full of everything God has for you and that the peace of God will overtake your weary soul and that today will be a breakthrough for your wall of grief. In Jesus name
