I had a pastor friend that preached right before all the craziness of a shut down nation happened that “we are a gentile (Christian) nation under the table eating the crumbs.”
Mark 7:27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. (KJV)
In the commentary of my Bible it says:
We often depend on our own skills and abilities when life seems easy, but when we feel unable to help ourselves, we turn to God. Depending on God is not defeat or weakness, but a realization of our own powerlessness without Him and our need for His constant contact.
God is our source of power and we receive His help by keeping touch with Him.
Then back over in Mark
Mark 7:19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? (KJV)
So back to….. we ARE a CHRISTIAN nation that’s sitting under the table eating crumbs!!!
Do you remember in Luke what the man was doing? The man that was full of sores?
Luke 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. (KJV)
He was wanting food! He had humbled himself to the point of sitting under the rich mans table in hopes of a mere crumb…..but God seen his greater need was healing so he sent the dogs to lick his wounds.
How we view the crumbs depends on the place of our heart.
Crumbs leave you always wanting more…
the positive side of this is that we should always want more Jesus.
The downside of this is… we are never satisfied. It’s all in how we choose to view and it all depends on the place of our heart.
So as a nation… a CHRISTIAN nation! We ARE a Christian nation and founded on biblical principles. Don’t mistake…that doesn’t mean everyone in our nation is a Christian.
Again…we were founded on biblical principals. We as a nation have been straying from those principals for quite some time now. Especially in the past 10 years!
God has surely NOT been happy with our decisions!
He tells us that we had a sentence of death on us.
2 Corinthians 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: (KJV)
Death means….we are in a downward spiral heading for a devils hell. God reminds us not to trust ourselves but to rely on Him!
He says to keep our minds focused completely stayed on Him and He will give us peace.
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (KJV)
Remind yourself through God’s Word that He will take away all fear and anxiety and give you
1- power
2- love
3- sound mind
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (KJV)
POWER to overcome the enemy in the shed blood and powerful name of Jesus. He WILL give you a testimony to last not only a lifetime but all through eternity!
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (KJV)
LOVE to see things through the eyes of Jesus and to show real compassion in the time of need for someone that doesn’t know the Savior personally.
Colossians 3:14 And above all these things put on charity (LOVE), which is the bond of perfectness. (KJV)
No longer looking through a dark glass but seeing things through spiritual eyes and knowing we will one day see Him face to face.
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (KJV)
SOUND MIND knowing that nothing we go through is out of God’s control or His concern. Sound mind to know that He has won the war and if you know Jesus as your personal Savior then you are on the winning side and no evil will harm you!
His Word says NO evil will come near where you are dwelling. The Bible also tells us that the Lord, Himself, has been our dwelling place for ALL generations.
That should bring tremendous comfort in a time of such uncertainty.
He is our strong tower that we can run to and be safe.
So while we are on this earth we will keep searching for the crumbs that God gives us and we should always want more of Him. Never being satisfied that we have enough of Him and don’t need to grow.
Once we cross over into the promised land…. into heaven then our crumbs will be rewarded with a heavenly feast.
Just wait….. it’s coming!!! Sooner than we think!!
Are you ready? I know I sure am!!
